Hassan Abdullah Niazi is a lawyer and writer currently practicing in Lahore, Pakistan. His practice focuses on constitutional, regulatory, anti-trust, internet, and technology law, advising both domestic and international clients. With more than a decade of legal experience he has established himself as a strong legal professional with a diverse array of knowledge regarding Pakistan’s constitution and regulatory environment.
Hassan started practicing law in 2013 and has worked as a litigation attorney at some of the biggest law firms in the country, including Mohsin Tayebaly & Co; Bhandari, Naqvi, Riaz; and, Axis Law Chambers. From 2013-2020 he was part of the legal team on major constitutional disputes such as the successful defence of the constitutionality of the Competition Commission of Pakistan and the Punjab Revenue Authority. Additionally, he developed a strong grasp of anti-trust/competition law, regularly advising domestic and international clients on these issues while successfully defending clients in proceedings before the CCP.
From 2020-2025, Hassan was the Lead Regulatory Counsel for South & Central Asia for Meta Platforms Inc (formerly Facebook) and was based in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in Singapore. As an in-house counsel, Hassan was responsible for advising Meta on growing its business in the SCA region while mitigating regulatory risks. He represented Meta before the highest levels of government and routinely counselled on complex freedom of expression and data protection issues.
Along with his legal practice, Hassan has been part of the visiting faculty at University College Lahore (2013-2015) and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (2017-2020) teaching courses on Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and Legal Advocacy.
Hassan writes regularly on law and politics in Pakistan’s leading English language newspapers including the Express Tribune, DAWN, and the News International where his opinion is also solicited on major legal developments in the country.
Hassan did his LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London, graduating with a First Class Honours degree. He completed his LL.M. from New York University where he was a Hauser Global Scholar.
